The Tivoli Club of WA holds a unique place in the entertainment scene of Australia-being the only non-professional theatre that produces a variety/cabaret show all year round.
Founded originally in 1971 by Jack”Skinny” Martin to do a restricted number of shows, it was found that the real “old time vaudeville” entertainment proved popular with audiences.
The Club was mobile giving performances in various suburban halls, and clubs throughout Perth.
In 1973 the Club found a permanent home in the Applecross District Hall often referred to as The Tivoli Theatre. It was at this time the Trembath School of Dance was approached and agreed to join the Club and provide dancers for the shows.
Dorothy Trembath had established herself as the leading teacher of acrobatics in Australia when her pupils ha a succession of wins in National TV programmes. Dorothy joined the club and became the Producer/Choreographer and her husband Bill the Musical Director. In 1985 Dorothy’s daughter Marilyn joined the club as choreographer. Marilyn Trembath had performed with many artists including, Lisa Minelli, Wayne Newton, Sony, Cher and Dean Martin. Dorothy passed away in 1990 and since then the club has had several produces all bringing their own unique style to the club.
Many artist have had their first stage experience at the Tivoli Club including Rochelle Durkin current soprano at the Metropolitan Opera New York, Tammy MacIntosh Actress, Jackie Love singer/dancer, Patricia Stevenson, Colin Hurley, Peter McIlroy. Several of our former dancers have gone on to perform at the Moulin Rouge and other stage productions and cruise ships. We have also had singers performing recently in productions including Wicked, Mamma Mia.
The Club does not receive any grants for the arts council and in unique in that it is totally self funded, all cast and crew are volunteers. The Club prides itself in providing low cost entertainment for the public of Perth and is committed to fundraising for charity some of these included: Radio Lollipop, Junior Diabetes Foundation, Royal Flying Doctors, WA State Emergency Services, Esther Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and many more.
In the 1980.s introduced a junior club original called “The Melville School of Stagecraft” now known as “Tivolettes”. Young performers aged 6-17 are given the opportunity to perform on a regular basis with a monthly show allowing them to develop their talents and confidence.
For more than 40 years to Tivoli Club of WA Inc has provided a variety/cabaret style show to the public of Perth and still continues to be self funded with all performers and crew being volunteers.

So, who are the Tivolettes?
Tivolettes are the Junior section of the Tivoli Club. The children involved are between the ages 6 and 17 years of age. They perform each month from April to November.
Tivolettes is not a school, but a performance group aimed at giving young performers stage experience and encouraging them to do the best they can and develop confidence.
You do not have to be experienced to perform in Tivollettes, however you need commitment to rehearsals at the beginning of the year, and to performance dates. Rehearsals start early February.
Auditions are held in November each year for the following year. This not a threatening experience, and those who are shy can audition with a friend. Audition forms can be obtained by clicking on "Auditions" above.
